Besides a rental advance and the bond deposit, the landlord cannot ask for any other payments from the tenant. The tenant bond has to be lodged officially and a receipt must be issued to the tenant as proof of payment. While trust plays a significant role in landlord-tenant relationships, it is always preferable to complete all the paper work and keep records.
