How to Pay a Tenant Bond

A tenant bond is usually 4 weeks rent paid to the Landlord, who then deposits the money with the Department of Building and Housing. The bond is a way for the Landlord to have security that their tenants will keep the property in good order and pay their rent on time. When a tenancy ends the tenants apply to receive their bond back and the landlord either agrees or requests deduction from the bond for damage or unpaid rent.
